By Mark Khaisman. This ingenious artist puts layers of translucent packing tape on clear Plexiglass panels (his "canvas" if you will), building them up to create degrees of opacity.
This is the first of what I hope to make a series of "Talent Envy" posts. I think it is just fitting that I feature the amazing, amazing Dutch graphic artist Maurits Cornelis Escher (or simply M.C. Escher).
"Relativity" (lithograph, 1953) Mr. Escher is what most of us would refer to as an "institution" in the field of graphic design. His ability to produce what many deem impossible is what continues to fascinate fans like myself. (And he started in the 1920s - waaaaay before Photoshop became the norm.)
"Hand with Reflecting Sphere". Also known as Self-Portrait in Spherical Mirror (lithograph, 1935) He is best known for exploring the concept of infinity and for his mathematically-inspired lithographs. Some of his works can still be seen in some school text books.
"Up And Down" (lithograph, 1947) "Drawing Hands" (lithograph, 1948) Learn more about him and his work here: M.C. Escher.
Mirror Man is a mysterious guy who is completely covered in mirrors. He wanders around the L.A. area and was recently spotted outside the Griffith Observatory. We are amazed and intrigued. He is presumably a performance artist. Or a psycho. Who knows? Either way, he gets 5 stars for originality.

Irish painter Conor Harrington gives new meaning to the term "creative chaos" with his style that is a mixture of street and fine art. His paintings typically feature a central masculine figure surrounded by abstract elements.
